JoJo: A new abode for Shots Fired Coffee

JoJo, our pop-up home for Shots Fired, as found on Craigs List in April.  Big plans, as usual waiting till the last minute.  The prior owners named her after the character in the Beatle’s song “Get Back” and suggested a name change to “Joe’s Joe”, (Joe as in Coffee).  Way to complicated but the name stuck.  Big plans for her after getting her roadworthy which included registration, new tires, new coupler, and vehicle lighting.  The innards were taken out and she was reregistered as a Utility Trailer.  Now an open space to be configured as needed for coffee service.

PocoJoe has been making coffee on playa since 2011. 

Here is is shown making Cold Brew coffee on playa in 2022.  The name “Shots Fired” comes from first efforts at making coffee without electricity using a Bialetti Moka Express machine.  It’s not really espresso and it’s an acquired taste, but friends and fellow campmates at BLD drank it like they liked it.   Adventures in propane continued with a large two group manual espresso machine that was a great deal of fun for several years.    It’s been a couple of years since the big bomb came to Burning Man, because we wanted to be able to serve more coffee and serve it at ARTery during build week.  The Big Drip – a parallel processor for coffee production – came next.  Last year we jumped in to Cold Brew in a big way and will never go back.  After about 8 am it seems EVERYONE wants iced coffee on the Playa.  Cold Brew required new technology, especially a new grinder that required a new generator etc etc etc.
